The first cryptocurrency ATM was set up in the Amsterdam's international airport. Now people have the ability to convert their euros into two most prominent cryptocurrencies: bitcoin or ethereum. It's the first airport in Europe which allows people to convert their currencies into crypto. It has to be mentioned that these two currencies weren't chosen accidentally. There was a 6-month trial which allowed to understand which currencies do they need to use. 

This ATM is strategically located near the airport's departures terminal so outbound travellers could take this opportunity to convert the remainder of their euros. According to Tanja Dik, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol's director of consumer products and services, the ATM will allow travellers easily exchange local euros for the global currencies such as bitcoin or ethereum. It will be useful for those people who can't use euros in their home country.

The market of cryptocurrencies is growing and we can see some shreds of evidence right now. Every day cryptocurrencies become popular and big companies start to use them in their work. Though 2-ATM accepts only euro bills it's just the beginning. The Dutch software services firm that offers crypto ATMs through its subsidiary ''Byecoin'' helped to install ATM in the Amsterdam's airport. Also, it has to be mentioned that this ATM enables people to negate the hassle of heightened conversion fees during currency conversion.

Not only Europe uses crypto ATMs. Earlier this year Australia's Brisbane Airport introduced crypto payments at a number of retail establishments across the airport's two terminals. These terminals enable to make payments in bitcoin, ethereum, dash and other cryptocurrencies.
