Wirecard Announced Partnership With Telegram’s TON to Develop Digital Financial Services

Partners promise to announce new solutions and opportunities in stages, without tough timeframe

On April 17, 2019, German financial services provider Wirecard reported in an official a press release that it has partnered with Telegram’s forthcoming blockchain project Telegram Open Network (TON) which is being developed by the team of the encrypted messenger Telegram.

According to the press release, TON Labs will collaborate with Wirecard to speed up development of new digital financial products. The partnership has been announced a week after media hinted that TON had started private beta testing, a very important moment for the project since its successful private initial coin offering (ICO) last year.

Alexander Filatov – managing partner at TON Labs – noted in the press release: “The addition of TON Blockchain to Telegram's growing ecosystem is opening new opportunities for business and technological innovation.” He also made such a comment: “We are excited to partner with one of the world’s most dynamic and innovative financial technology companies to bring synergetic new generation fintech solutions to the market.”

Details of the new solutions and opportunities the two partner will develop were not clearly identified. Wirecard postulated that announcements will come in corresponding time without giving a timeframe.

Georg von Waldenfels – Wirecard’s executive vice president – added that TON Labs’ huge experience in highly scalable technology and decentralized solutions and the strong global growth of Telegram messenger will be “instrumental for the success of our joint program”.
