Diplomas will be based on Blockcerts standard realized by Learning Machine startup
On January 13, 2019, English-language media outlet Trade Arabia reported that the University of Bahrain would issue digital diplomas bound to the blockchain. In this initiative, Blockcerts open standard will be used, and its successful implementation is guaranteed by the partnership with Learning Machine, a startup that is among leaders in Blockcerts credential issuing systems.
In the Blockcerts standard, digital records are registered on a blockchain, then they are cryptographically signed, tamper proof, and directly shareable. This enables governmental bodies, companies, and academic institutions to issue Blockcerts massively.
Professor Riyad Hamzah – the president of the University of Bahrain – has reported that the use of the Learning Machine platform for academic records will give the possibility to provide better service for students. The platform will issue credentials to students with cryptographic proof that they were given by the University of Bahrain.
“Students will have their own digital file, which means that they or indeed their employers will not have to wait for us to validate their credentials,” – R. Hamzah explained.
Now, Bahrain positions itself as the leader of the region in using cutting-edge digital technologies and makes huge progress towards in the realization of the program of the national 2030 economic vision.
