Government Annual Meetings have launched AI and Blockchain Guide Initiative, and National Programm for AI and Blockchain Capacity Building
On November 28, 2018, the Emirates News Agency said that the Second United Arab Emirates Government Annual Meetings decided to launch two initiatives in the field blockchain and artificial intelligence.
The meeting was hold by the governmental AI and Blockchain Joint Working Group. Experts who participated in the meeting discussed ways to attract foreign investment and create adequate technological infrastructure, and potential challenges which can appear in the process of blockchain and AI adoption.
The meeting concluded the start the AI and Blockchain Guide Initiative which will work on an official definition of the technologies, and will introduce the concepts of AI to appropriate entities.
Also, the meeting resulted in the launch of the National Programm for AI and Blockchain Capacity Building. This initiative guided by the Ministry of Education will supply universities with courses and scholarships in the field of AI and blockchain technology. Moreover, the programm will develop professional training courses “across all professional levels, and seeks to integrate artificial intelligence in the different stages of education.”
Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, express his opinion aboutthe initiatives:
“The United Arab Emirates is keen to adopt AI and blockchain technologies in all the economic, health, educational and other vital sectors. It seeks to boost cooperation and forge partnerships between the various government, federal and local entities, international companies and startups in a bid to find effective and innovative solutions and make a positive impact."
