The event’s goal is to stimulate finding real-life blockchain solutions
This summer, Switzerland will host the Swiss Blockchain Hackathon aimed to help companies find distinct applications of blockchain technology in their business, according to an announcement published on February 27, 2019.
The hackaton will take place at Zurich’s Trust Square blockchain hub from 21 to 23 June, 2019, and it will be the country’s biggest blockchain hackaton in 2019. The event is jointly organized by six leading blockchain and IT institutions of Switzerland, namely Bitcoin Association Switzerland, Trust Square, Swiss Blockchain Federation, CV Labs, Crypto Valley Association, and swissICT.
The announcement states that the hackaton will attract around 200 industry players - including developers, investors and creators - both from Switzerland and abroad. They will look for solutions to specific real-world challenges and will analyse ways that could facilitate the deployment of blockchain in various sectors of industry - as diverse as agriculture, mobility, food, finance, sports, supply chain and public services.
The challenges will be developed by industry partners in collaboration with leading academic institutions and they will be published on the hackathon website in March.
The authors of the best solutions will be awarded with attractive prizes.
The Swiss Blockchain Hackathonwill will reportedly strengthen Switzerland’s position as a leading location for blockchain research and development. Amazon Web Services is declared as main event partner that will help to create an infrastructure environment for innovative ideas.
