Dutch land registry is about to test real estate placement on the blockchain platform

Netherlands’s Land Registry is planning to implement blockchain technology for the national real estate data, as reported by Computable on Thursday, May 31.

Koen Huisstede, an enterprise architect at the Land Registry mentioned that the company is trying to evaluate this relatively new technology and what it can do for the property sphere. The expected time of the integration is within one or three years.

The Land Registry’s task is to oversee ownership, mortgages, and all third-party data related to the property in the Netherlands. It seeks the opportunity to explore the technical, legal and governance aspects of the blockchain, so Land Registry could become more flexible and digitally enhanced. During the interview, organization’s representative revealed that they are also experimenting with artificial intelligence (AI) for productive data systems.

Netherland was one of 22 EU members to sign a declaration to create a European Blockchain Partnership. Its target is to cooperate on the implementation of the blockchain all around Europe.
