The EC has recently named blockchain technology as a significant part of its plans to struggle with the spread of false information online. The information about it is given by TechCrunch on Monday, April 30.
The European Commission has called blockchain technology an important part of so-called Code of Practice on Disinformation. The EC is planning to introduce it in July, 2018. As it follows from recently published EC press release , blockchain technology is one of “emerging technologies which are changing the way information is produced and disseminated, and have the potential to play a central role in tackling disinformation over the longer term.” The representatives of the EC assume that blockchain technology can help provide reliability and veracity of online information. Innovative technologies (blockchain and others) will help to keep the content integrity, to confirm the reliability of information and sources, to provide transparency of news.
