Ethiopia: implementation of blockchain in agro-industry

The government of Ethiopia is planning to implement blockchain technology in agricultural industry.

Not long ago, the authorities signed MOU - memorandum of understanding - with cryptocurrency startup Cardano (ADA). As Next Web informs, the agreement provides the use of blockchain technology by ethiopian developers in sector of agriculture. The General director and founder of Cardano Charles Hoskinson confirmed this event in his Twitter. He declared that the agreement with Ministry of science and technologies includes training of local developers to use the blockchain technology. According to the words of John O’Connor, the director on African operations of Cordano IOHK, ethiopian developers are planning to use the platform based on Cardano blockchain, to the end of 2018. The exact date of project starting has not been declared yet. Cardano, launched in September, 2017, is in the top-list of the best cryptocurrencies on capitalization. The volume of its market capitalization is $9,4 bln.
