Chinese Insurance Giant Ping An Collaborates With Decentralized Startup SingularityNET

The partnership focuses on Optical Character Recognition, Computer Vision and model training

On March 14, 2019, decentralized artificial intelligence startup SingularityNET reported about collaboration with Chinese insurance giant Ping An in an official press release published on Medium.

According to the press release, the partnership first aims at development of Optical Character Recognition (OCR), Computer Vision (CV) and model training. SingularityNET suggests that in the near future, partnership will expand to embrace many other industries and initiatives.

The public statement has been made soon after SingularityNET officially launched a beta version of its Ethereum-based decentralized marketplace on February 28, 2019. In January 2019, the company also announced a collaboration with a blockchain startup Hara focused on agriculture at the World Web Forum.

Ping An is known as most valuable insurance company globally. It has 170 million customers, and it ranked tenth in the Forbes Global 2000 list of world’s largest public companies. The announcement notes that Ping An’s “One Minute Clinics” intended for medical consultations, which are unstaffed and use artificial intelligence, are already launched in eight Chinese cities.
