The strong ascent of BTC on the crypto market started on July 16 and accelerated further on July 17. In the following days, Bitcoin price showed sustained positive movement while other coins were in the negative territory.

Bitcoin (BTC) is trading around $8,130 to press time, up 4.0 percent on the day. Bitcoin’s weekly and monthly profitss are now at around 4.0 and 35 percent respectively, according to data given by CoinMarketCap.

Yesterday, BTC dominance by market capitalization in the crypto market reached its highest level yet in 2018, passing 46 percent. This threshold was last seen December 20, 2017, when the coin was trading at the level about $20,000. Today, dominance has moved up yet further to 47.0 percent by press time.

On CoinMarketCap’s listings, the top 10 coins by market cap are showing mixed red and green, with some crypto coins seeing considerable growth of above 4 percent.

Total market capitalization of all cryptocurrencies is around $296 billion at press time.
