Russia’s biggest bank ‘’Sberbank’’ is to launch its first official ICO.
Sberbank CIB and the National Settlement Depositary are in discussion to launch Russia’s first official ICO. The bank of Russia will be a regulator during the ICO launch and main phase. The project is aiming to start during summer 2018.
Igor Bulantsev, the CIB’s head of Sberbank, believes that Russian ICO market has a great potential. He also mentioned that the clients of the bank are interested a new way of fundraising.
The tokens of this ICO will be selling for rubles only and will be available to the specifically qualified investors. The idea to launch Russia’s first government-observed ICO was first brought to the attention of the press in the mid-April of 2018.
Just this week the examination of the new law, regulating crypto in Russia, has taken place by the parliament. The law strives to define cryptocurrency and tokens as property and restrict the usage of both to those who are not ‘’qualified investor’’.
