On Noveber 26, 2018, the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) posted announcement where it reported about creation of the country’s first “Blockchain Academy.”

The BIBF was established in the Kingdom of Bahrain in 1981 by approval of the Specific Council for Vocational Training. The institute is a non-profit semi-government organization that provides courses in the field of finance.

The launching of the Blockchain Academy marks the first blockchain professional qualification program offering in Bahrain. The training program is developed to train participants to obtain the international qualification of Certified Blockchain Professional C|BP. The program was developed by the BIBF and MyLearning Key company based in Dubai.

The C|BP Certification supposedly includes three areas in blockchain technology: development, implementation, and strategy. Dr. Ahmed Al Shaikh, who is BIBF Director, said that the company introduced the Blockchain Professional Qualification to “support the growing demand for skilled blockchain professionals.”

Ahmed Naeemi – the Head of IT, Operations and Project Management – noted that the new initiative aims to support businesses and organizations which want to adopt new technologies such as blockchain.
